about

Return To The Village 1998 is a mixtape from Sensei [Setsa] that pulls reference from Three 6 Mafia, Japanese flute music, and cloud rap; to make an experience that may or may not, be about a fatherless samurai wandering the backroads of Tennessee. Yes, it's another one of those albums.

If y'all wanna get high and watch old episodes of Naruto and dub it over with your own dialogue about geishas twerking and getting head from a half cat/half human ninja chick; this is the look. If you're not into weird shit; it's got bass out the ass, some fast Bone Thugz N Harmony style raps, and plenty of mentions of money and hoes. It's rap music in 2014. If you do like weird shit however, there's mention of sake, evil spirits, and demon elves; plus a bunch of other shit that reminds me of a bootleg Japanese Plastation 1 RPG I bought that didn't have English subtitles.

Since the dawn of time the Seventies there's been a weird symbiotic relationship between black culture and Japanesse culture. Sometimes we get the weird black kid in your high school who is really into cosplay, learning the Japanesse language, and saying shit like "the manga was better". Sometimes we get Junko, the Japanese woman who won the Dancehall Queen title in 2003. EIther way, The Teenage Mutant Nigga Turtles would definitely co-sign this record.
